Biography



Sharon Elise Prager, LCSWR, BCD is a board-certified traumatologist, a Ph.D. candidate at Texas Tech University, and a Lieutenant in the United States Navy Medical Service Corps. She is the Founder and CEO of Calm Seas Psychotherapy, with offices in Mount Sinai , Albany, Syracuse and Buffalo, NY, and a robust virtual presence serving clients across multiple states. A specialist in trauma and addictions with over 16 years of experience, Prager has worked extensively with military personnel, law enforcement officers, and their families. Her expertise spans forensic evaluation, critical incident response, and complex trauma recovery.

A graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice and New York University, Prager is completing her doctoral research on childhood trauma, addictive behaviors, and the protective role of sustained therapeutic engagement among law enforcement officers. She is affiliated with the Trauma Research Foundation and has presented nationally and internationally on Military Behavioral Health, Moral Injury, Military Sexual Trauma, and systemic barriers to care.

In 2025, her peer-reviewed article, Mindfulness in Recovery from Alcohol Use among Law Enforcement, was accepted for publication in the 30th-anniversary edition of the *Journal of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress (JAAETS)*—a testament to her innovative work at the intersection of trauma-informed care and addiction recovery.

Prager continues to lead her team at Calm Seas, expand advanced programming for families and first responders, and train the next generation of clinicians through her internship program and Speakers Bureau initiatives. Steady as she goes, her professional course remains anchored in service, science, and the unwavering support of those who serve.
